Qb2 then Qb5 will win!
How do I find the answer? Also, what is the significance of the numbers and letters following the problem?
May I link your blog to mine?
I agree, Qb3+
Qb2 Qxb2!?
I think it’s a draw, I can’t see how white can advance as soon as the king goes to c8 any check and block with the queen can be taken bcoz the king can jump to d7 and draw the resulting king ending. And bcoz the pawn is on the 6th rank there is no hiding place. If the pawn was on d5 the king would have d6 to hide on and create mating threats. This reminds me of philidor positions in rook endings a little!?
To Lynn Green:
It means FEN standard for the given position.
The other is PGN standard that You should know.
Read comments as answers 🙂
Cheers!
thanks, Chessforever, cheers to thee too
I think , 1.Qe6 is the best move and there are good chances for winning.
If black king goes to c8 – it is draw.
1..Qc3+ 2.Kd7 Qg7+ 3.Qe7 Qg4+ 4.Kd8 Qg8+ 5.Qe8 , etc.
Its a tablebase ending

White wins with Qb3+ and Qb5!
idea: exchanging queens
1Qb3+ Ka8(Kc8? 2Qe6+Kd8 3Qh3! and black can’t stop checkmate in d7 and h8) 2Qd5
White threatens Qa5-Qd8-Qe7(and other things)
1)Checks are bad.
if Qb7+ 3Kc5 Kb8 4Qxb7+ and Kb5
if Qf2+, Kb6 and Qb7++
2)
Kb8 3d7 Qc3+ and I think black can draw so maybe I made a mistake somewhere.
