1.Rxc6 wins a piece.
1.- bxc6? 2.Rd3 a5 3.Rb3+ Ka7 4.Rb7+ Ka6 5.Sc5#
How about Rxc6! e.g. bxc6 Rd3 followed by Rb3
You beat me by a second again!
One add:
1. Rxc6, Nxf4!? 2. Rc7!, Nxe6 3. Rxb7#
Unfortunately white is up two pawns in the position (and much more active etc, that’s a bad puzzle as e.g. 1. f5 seems to win very prosaic, too) if not black would have a playable game after 1. Rxc6, Nxf4 2. Nxf4? while here of course the (worse) simple Nxf4 wins, too (leaving white with 2N+P vs R).
It’s a “everything goes” position, white can play second good moves and win easily.
🙁
Perhaps we can improve the position by taking away the white g and h pawn and adding a black g7 pawn?
Of course this wouldn’t be the game then but it would be a nicer puzzle and Nxf4!? would be a try!?
Opinions?
