Polish lineups for the European Team Chess Championship

The Polish Chess Federation Executive Board has selected the players for the national teams at the European Championship which will take place on 2-12.11.2011, in Porto Carras (Greece).

According to the current federation regulations followed by the EB, which state that the Polish champion + 4 top players from the September rating list are invited, there is no place for the World Junior Champion GM Dariusz Świercz.

Women’s squad:

GM Monika Soćko, WGM Joanna Majdan-Gajewska, WGM Karina Szczepkowska-Horowska, WGM Jolanta Zawadzka, WIM Katarzyna Toma

Iweta Rajlich and Joanna Dworakowska (1st reserve player) could not accept invitations because of the personal reasons.

Men’s squad:

GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek, GM Bartosz Soćko, GM Kamil Miton, GM Mateusz Bartel, GM Bartlomiej Macieja

Coaches:

Mark Matlak, Alexander Mista – Women’s team
Michael Krasenkow – Men’s team

Armenia, Ukraine, Greece, Germany, England, Hungary, Iceland, Serbia, Montenegro are also announced on Chessdom. More teams will follow in the coming days.

Irish Chess Union: “Unfortunately, there were not enough people interested in playing in the European Team Championships in November, and therefore the ICU will not be sending a team.”
