Can white not simply promote the pawn on d8? Should black’s queen capture then the remaining white queen would mate on h7. Should black not capture no d8 he would have to prevent getting mated on g5 and thus not have the time to queen himself. Seems to easy though, not really a tactic. Anything I missed?!?

Go for the obvious here:
1. d8(Q) Qd8
2. Qh7#
And,
1. d8(Q) f1(Q)
2. Qg5#
So black needs to check,
1. d8(Q) Qf3 (only move I see)
2. Kb6 and I see no other checks that prevent mate.
1. d8=Q
If 1… Qxd8, 2.Qh7#
If 1… e1=Q, 2.Qh8+ Qh7 3.Qxh7#
1. d88 f1Q
2. Qh8+, and
3. Qg8#
If black tries to prevent the mate
with
1.. Qf3+, then
2. Ka6 Qc6
3. Ka7 Qh6
4. Qf7+ and white is a queen up and a mate is imminent.
1. d8(Q)
1. … Qxd8
2. Qh7#
1. … Qg6
2. Qh8+ Qh6
3. Qe2+ Kg6
4. Qee8+ Kf5
5. Qhe5#
1. … Qf3+
2. Kb6 Black has no satisfactory answer to a check from h8 or h7
1. d8(Q) wins, doesn’t it?
1… Qxd8, 2. Qh7#
Or 1…. f1(Q) 2. Qxg5#
so
1… Qf3+
2. Kh7 Qa3+
3. Kg6
black has no more checks, and dual mate threats of Qh7# and Qxg5#
1.d8=Q…Qxd8 (if…c1=Q ;2.Qxg5 mate)
2.Qh7 mate
