Are the organizer / USCF following FIDE rules or they just make up any rule they want? The US Championship format is against FIDE rules and I believe Irina’s GM norm would have been voided if she had beaten Kraii in the final round.
Is this how they plan to rule FIDE if Karpov wins? This is why Karpov must be defeated. Too many corrupt people in the USCF.
The rules for the norms were fine. If you don’t know what you’re talking about then don’t.
The Karpov issue is a different topic so don’t mix them together. Rex doesn’t know what he got himself into with Karpov or he let his ego take charge.
The format of the US Champs is abhorrent. The prizes, conditions, and experience are fantastic, but this format is ridiculous.
Please explain why FIDE would object to the US Championship format.
Really, FIDE would allow bidding for time? Can you please point that out in the FIDE rule book? I can’t seem to find it.
Rex is great. The USCF sucks.
Can we all just get along?
Anon @ 6:25pm – the bidding is done in rapid tie breaks – those games aren’t FIDE ratable anyways and there are no norms at stake between the players in the tie breaks.
You know nothing about how FIDE events operate so stop pretending.
Anon @ 6:14 this format is not one of the text book approvals in the FIDE rules for title norms so I would assume that the organizers sought permission.
The arrogant American organizers always think that they can do any bloody thing they want. They think that they rule the world. They should learn how to behave properly.
3D for games
The playoff format is unbelievably weird.
Haha from Norway. This is bizarre.
