1. Rd8
Took me some time 🙂
Lovely mate indeed.
This is way too hard.
1.R-e8 Kxf7 or h6
2.N-g5+ Kg7
3.Re-g8#
rd8 baby
Happy New Year
1. Kg3 or Kh3
…Kxh6
2. Ng5+
…Kg6 or Kg7
3. Rfg8#
Took some time for the first move
1.Rd8 Kxh6 the intent is to attack from d7 or queen the pawn
(1…Kxf7 2.Rd7+ Ke6 3.Nf8#)
(1…Kxf7 2.Rd7+ Kg6 3.Nf8#)
2.f8=Q+ Kg6
3.Qxf6#
Kg3 and Kh3 are all meet by h4..and it takes 4 moves to mate….the correct continuation are follows:
1.Rd8(if Kxh6 then f8Q+ Kg6 and Qxf6#)or Kxh6 Nf8 discover + Kg7 and Rh7#
2.Rd8(if Kxf7 then Rd7+ followed by Nf8#…
Since immediate Ng5 stalemates, black must obviously be allowed to eat a pawn first.
But hardly be allowed to reach e-file, therefore 1. Re8 seems obvious.
2. Ng5+ (works both after Kxf7 or Kxh6)
3. Reg8#
Not 2. f8=Q+, that fails to mate in 3.
I did not see 1…h4, then it would be mate in 4.
1.Rhg8+ Kxh7
2. Rg1 Rxh6
3. Rh8#
Rd8(…Kxh6 f8Q+..Kg6 Qf6#)Kxh7 Rd7+..Ke6 or Kg6 then Nf8#..
1. Re8? Kxf7
2. Ng5+?? fxg5 and no mate in 3.
lawrence got it the answer is rhg8+ kxh7, rg1 kxh6, rh8 checkmate
