Well done Alex Onischuk!
lex was one of Topalov’s seconds for that fiasco in Elista. I’m willing to bet the experience helped Onischuk in this tournament.
Mike Aigner kicked some butt. Nice going fpawn.
Shabalov and Onischuk want to win. I think the best would be a Champion Match between Shabalov and Onischuk.
I would have also have been happy to see Nakamura win. Then I would have looked for a Champion Match between Nakamura and Onischuk which is what we missed out on last year.
I really want to see Match Championships like in the old days. These tournaments just do not work for excitement and drama.
When you have a match then you have the two best players deciding on who is going to be Champion. That is what people can really relate to. The ultimate battle of who is best.
A championship should not be determined by beating up on low rated masters. It should be determined by a good match between the two best players.
