1. Rd5+ Kxf4
2. Qg6 Qe4
3. Qxf6+ Ke3
4. Qxg5+
now if
4. … Ke2
5. Qd2+ Kf1
6. Qd1+ Kf2
7. Rd2+ Ke3
8. Re2+ wins the Q
or if
4. … Kf2
5. Qd2+ Qe2
6. Rf5#
notes: all black moves are forced:
1… Kxf4 is forced — because if the king moves to the e-file, the black Q will be unprotected.
after 2. Qg6, the threat is 3. Qf5# so 2… Qe4 is also forced.
after 3. Qxf6+, Ke3 is also forced.
Missed one line, but this too works out:
After 1. Rd5+, Kxf4, 2. Qg6, another try for black is 2… Qe6.
However,
3. Rd4+ Ke3 (… Ke5, 4. Re4+ wins the Q)
4. Qd3+ Kf2
5. Qf3+ Ke1
6. Rd1#
1. Rd5+ wins the Queen (after both Re5 or a move of the black King)
1. Rd5+, Kxf4
2. Qg6 ! and 3. Qf5
1…., Ke6 and 1. …, Ke4 are followed by 2. Qxe2 and black is also lost.
Erik Fokke, Amsterdam
Rxf6
I think Rd5+ should be good.
1) …Re5 -> 2.Qxe2 and game over
2)…Qe5 just loses the Queen for nothing
3) …Ke6 and …Ke4 -> 2.Qxe2
Rd5
not rxf6
1.Rd5 + …(whatever)
2.Qxe2
Rd5 followed by QxQ
Rd5+ KxP
Qg6 1-0
1. Rd5 Kxf4 (forced)
2. Rxf6+ Ke3
3. Qxg5+ Kd3
As far as I could get. Seems W has opportunities and can continue to give check but how can he win the rook or queen? I simple can’t visualize the board. How can I improve my ability to visualize more than 3 moves ahead?! Whould I play this line in a tournament seeing that W has chance to chase the exposed black king but can’t see the continuation? Don’t know.
aam: I like your line up to 3.Qxf6+ Ke3, but after 4. Qxg5+ Black has 4…Qf4+ making life difficult.
