Rxg7+ mates in a few moves regardless of what the king does.
Rg7, then Bh6 and Qf8 mate soon.
Mustafiz
Rxg7 Kxg7
Bh6+ Kxh6
Qg5++
Rxg7 Kxg7
Bh6+ Kxh6
Qg5++
1Rxb+ kxr 2Bh6+ kxb 3 Qg5 mate
1Rxb+ kxr 2Bh6+ kxb 3 Qg5 mate
{“How can White save the game?” — with a game winning touchdown, of course. A couple of key blocks to eliminate defensive linemen, and our queen struts over the goal line..}
1. Rxg7+ Kxg7 2. Bh6+ Kxh6 3. Qg5#
Lucymarie
This is a very nice mate in three. White must get rid of all pieces save the queen:
1. Rxg7+ Kxg7
1. … Kh8
2. Qxf8#
2. Bh6+! Kxh6
2. … Kg8/h8
3. Qxf8#
3. Qg5#
1.Rxg7+ Kg7
[if ..Kh8 2.Qxh7#]
2.Bh6+ Kxh6
[if ..Kh8 2.Qxf8#]
3.Qg5# ..no where to hide! lol
1. De6+ Kh8
2. Re8
This seems to be
1. Rxg7+ .. Kxg7 (or mate in one)
2. Bh6+ .. Kg8/h8 (Kxh6 3. Qg5#)
3. Qxf8#
I considered the two first moves quickly, gaining material:
1.Rxg7+ Kxg7
2.Bh6+ Kxh6…
… and while searching a quick win after 3.Qxf8+ (win that is not there, after a 10 seconds check), suddenly I saw or remembered a checkmate after the obvious 3.Qg5#
If 3.Qxf8+ was impossible, I’d thought considerably longer than 15 seconds.
Afterthought: I’ve already seen this pattern or this very position. Possible?
Hi Susan Polgar,
Well,seems to be simple.
For White,initial move “Qg4” a better fit to win the game,slight variation exist but White wins in ease.

Lucymarie’s piece of cake.My piece of “Halwa”.
1Rxg7+ Kxg7
1… Kh8 2Qxf8#
2Bh6+ Kxh6
2…. Kg8 3Qxf8#
3Qg5#
A perpetual:
Rxg7+ Kxg7
Bh6+ Kxh6
Qxf8+ Kg6
Qg8+ Kh6
Qf8+ Kg6
Qg8+ draw agreed
Hi Susan Polgar,
Well,I am surprised that except me none other preferred initial “Qg4”,so let me now,type in the moves,possibly expecting hot comments about it – lol .
Example
========
1.Qg4 Qb1+
2.Kg2 Rf7
3.Re8+ Rf8
4.Qe6+ Kh8
5.R*Rf8++ Mate
White wins the game.[ No doubt slight variations exist but still white can win in ease – expecting hot comments – may be from hottest of hot – lol ]
