New Delhi Ukrainian Grandmaster Yuri Solodovnichenko joined the list of casualties in the ongoing 7th Parsvnath International Open Chess Tournament here, losing his third round game to International Master Atanu Lahiri.

Meanwhile, at the top of the tables, second seed Yuriy Kuzubov of Ukraine continued to make merry at the expense of Rahul Shetty and National Champion Surya Shekhar Ganguly overcame International Master Anup Deshmukh of LIC. Local favourite Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi got the better off Fide Master Akshat Khamparia. Grandmaster Magesh Chandran and Niaz Murshed, on the other hand, had to be satisfied with half-a-point each against Chinmay Kulkarni and Abhishek Das respectively.

Earlier in the second round, Kerala’s OT Anilkumar produced another shocker when he toppled top seed Alexender Areshchenko of Ukraine, while GV Sai Krishna produced another surprise result by beating Grandmaster Vinay Bhat.

Monday’s Results, Round 3 (Indians otherwise stated): GM Yuriy Kuzubov of Ukaraine (3) beat IM Rahul Shetty (2), IM Anup Deshmukh (2) lost to GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly (3), GM Parimarjan Negi (3) beat FM Akshat Khamparia (2), IM Atanu Lahiri (3) beat Yuri Solodovnichenko of Ukraine (2), R Premnath (2) lost to GM Abhijit Kunte(3), GM Anuar Ismagambetov of Kazakhstan (3) beat FM J Ramakrishna (2), Joydeep Dutta (2) lost to GM Saidali Iuldachev of Uzbekistan (3), GM Safin Shukhrat of Uzbekistan (3) beat Soumyaranjan Mishra (2), P Maheswaran (2) lost to GM Mikhail Ulibin of Russia (3) and GM Per Kostenko of Kazakhstan beat Shashikant Kutwal (2).
