Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
A New World Champion has arrived.
Perhaps Kasparov is really the Jedi Master Yoda. Has anyone ever seen Kasparov and Yoda at the same time? Think about it. There’s more: has anyone ever seen Henrik Carlsen and Darth Vader in a room together? Spooky, isn’t it?
🙂
Go (K)Carlsen go !!
Topalov always wins all games in the end.
‘A New World Champion has arrived.’
He has been here for a long while now.
‘Perhaps Kasparov is really the Jedi Master Yoda.’
We will never really know. Only Magnus knows how much Kasparov helped or hurted him. And he wont say.
Are you guys really so naive to think that Kasparov is training Magnus wih opening theory? For Pete’s sake, his theory is at least 6 years old!! Who would want to pay for that?? I am afraid its all about spending tax-payers monies.
chessbase says “Magnus now has a performance of over 3100”. Are they ever going to stop with this nonsense? My grandmother just won a 2050 tournament with 9/9, also has a 3100 performance.
Despite the Chessdom article, Morozevish will challenge Carlsen in the future and win. (I am a Finn, but appreciate Morozevish’s repertuare and game, though I liek Carlsen also.)
I would like to ask of Susan Polgar, why do we not see the dutch defence since Botvinnik, sure there must be improvements (I even feel I have improved on some lines on online rapid play, wrong or right), as the king’s indian is played much but much of it’s problems, per Petrosian, come from not being able to play f5. Well, I play (very amateur) as black the french and dutch, but I don’t understand why the dutch isn’t seen in GM play. Hope you see this and respond.
very interesting question, indeed, susan.
why is the dutch practically non-existent in (super)gm tourneys?
‘Morozevish will challenge Carlsen in the future and win.’
Moro is history. Carlesen is the future of chess.
Magnus isn’t that great a chessplayer, he just gets lucky when his opponents crumble for no reason.
/sarcasm
I love your blog! Really! I love it!
There seems to be a lot of differences of opinion here among chess amateurs. Susan, can you rpovide a small playable chess board next to the comments so that parties in quarrel can settle their differences over the board? Nobody in the world has this, it would be the revolution in chess blogging and total domination of you.
‘I would like to ask of Susan Polgar’
I would also. Can you make something like “Ask GM Joel” for us?
Carlsen’s performance comment is laughable compared to this one: http://chess-results.com/tnr25838.aspx?art=5&lan=1&m=-1&wi=1000 – the first tournament entry on http://chess-results.com If I checked more entries, I would be laughing more.
“chessbase says “Magnus now has a performance of over 3100″. Are they ever going to stop with this nonsense? My grandmother just won a 2050 tournament with 9/9, also has a 3100 performance.”
I’m afraid it won’t happen, chess world is getting more and more obsessed with the rating/live rating/performance.
“Kasparov”, “tax payers money” (???), “Grandmother got 9/9”,bla bla bla. So much endless bullshit. Magnus was over 2790 a year ago, he didn’t learn chess this summer. Kasparov has given him some advice, yes. And Kasparov had years of very tough training by Botvinnik. And so one.

It is YOU who’re talking nonsense: If she scored 100% her performance rating wouldn’t be 3100, it would be unknown (you can’t compute valid performance ratings for 0% or 100% scores!).
Magnus has scored 3.5/4.0 or 87,5%, so it’s possible to compute a valid score.
> Are you guys really so naive to
> think that Kasparov is training

Actually they do: Both players have confirmed this.
> For Pete’s sake, his theory is at

You forget that Kasparov has continued to update his private opening book library after he retired. Many modern opening ideas were developed by him. He’s also written chess books after he retired, so he’s still studying the game (as he should do, especially now that he’s coaching Magnus).
Susan if u see magasparov tell him ill mail him capas best chess endings for the red outfit!! Even trade!!
‘You forget that Kasparov has continued to update his private opening book library after he retired.’
Oh yes, I forgot that.
‘Magnus has scored 3.5/4.0 or 87,5%, so it’s possible to compute a valid score.’
It would not be the first time rating performance is yelled out after someone is making 100% also.
“So much endless bullshit. Magnus was over 2790 a year ago, he didn’t learn chess this summer.”
Rating performance has nothing to do much with actual rating. Magnus’s rating is lower than Topalov’s ALL HIS LIFE, that’s all everybody knows.
If you knew anything about chess, and you reportedly do not, Magnus HAS learned chess his summer only, when he started working his Kasparov. Everything he knew before that was the shit of the bull you talk about.
chessbase should add performance rating to their system. they now have some stupid numbers, that you need a calculator to add or subtract from.
‘You forget that Kasparov has continued to update his private opening book library after he retired.’
Was he doing it while in jail in Moscow?
‘Magnus has scored 3.5/4.0 or 87,5%, so it’s possible to compute a valid score.’
So, he did pass 2800 finally! Wow, I am so happy for him!
‘He’s also written chess books after he retired’
Was “How to beat Putin” one of them?
“If you knew anything about chess, and you reportedly do not, Magnus HAS learned chess his summer only, when he started working his Kasparov. Everything he knew before that was the shit of the bull you talk about.”
Have you forgotten to take your medicine today?
Why? The guy makes a lot of sense, actually.
1. Chess playing players and chess carpenters are not as smart as they think they are. Quite the opposite.
2. The Knight is always taller than the Rook, which proves point one.
Whats the difference between a chess player and a pizza?
The pizza can fill the stomachs of a four-member family.
“The pizza can fill the stomachs of a four-member family.”
Damn, that was mean.
