Sparkling attacking play from Hikaru Nakamura was the highlight of the sixth round of the 3rd Sinquefield Cup at St Louis, Missouri.

The US champion illustrated how dangerous a player he can be in his favourite King’s Indian as he humbled Wesley So, whose naivety in the opening, to which I alluded yesterday, was demonstrated again.

So played his first 20 moves instantly, which suggests he was relying on a misleading computer assessment.

A player experienced in these positions would never take on g4, or at least be highly suspicious of it.
