CELEBRATION IN AGUASCALIENTES WITH THE OPENING OF THE NORTH AMERICA YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

The event will start with the participation of 182 children and teenagers of Canada, United States and Mexico. Friday, October 5, 2007, 09h00 starts the majestic opening ceremony of the North America Youth Chess Championship, Aguascalientes 2007. Having at the back the gardens of Hotel “Las Trojes”, the organization welcomes and presents the participants of Canada, Unites States and Mexico.

The opening was headed by Lic. Juan Alfredo Morales Shaadi, General Director of the Aguascalientes States Sports Institute, as representative of the Constitutional Governor of Aguascalientes States, Eng. Luis Armando Reynoso Femat; Eng. Florentino Reyes Berlie,Secretary of Management and Innovation of the Government of Aguascalientes State; IA Jorge Vega Fernández, President of the Confederation of Chess for America (CC); Eng. Fernando Pol Pérez, Aguascalientes State Tourism Secretary; C. Raúl Enrique Hernández Hernández, President of the National Chess Federation of Mexico; Mr. Russel Harwood, United States ’ representative, and Mr. Patrick McDonald, Canada’s representative.

The welcome was given by Eng. Florentino Reyes Berlie, Secretary of Management and Innovation of the Government of Aguascalientes State, he expressed his satisfaction and affability to receive to so distinguished delegations of the American Continent, emphasizing that even being children and teenagers they are outstanding sportsmen in chess.

He also emphasized that as part of the State’s Development Plan 2004-2010 relating to “Recreation, Culture and Sport”, in October the program “Chess for Aguascalientes (AxA)” was created, its objective is to promote and foment the wellbeing of the population, by means of the massive practice of chess in all socioeconomic levels in Aguascalientes State, as well as helping to form citizens of excellence, and finalized welcoming to all the attendants.

Afterward the IA Jorge Vega Fernandez thanked the participants and said that they are the nucleus of the tournament because without them it would be impossible to do it. Later the Canadian Arbiter Patrick McDonald did the Arbiters’ oath.

The sport oath was done by the children: Jorge Llamas, Mexico’s representative and Claudia Munoz, United States’ representative, who swore to compete with sportive spirit and with fair play due to the greatness of chess.

The inaugural message and declaration was done by Lic. Alfredo Morales Shaadi and finally the first movement was done by Lic Alfredo Morales Shaadi with white pieces and IA Jorge Vega Fernandez with black pieces. As First Witness was the Eng. Florentino Reyes Berlie and as Second Witness was Rail Hernandez Hernandez.

In order to close the inaugural act, the masters of ceremonies thanked and farewell the attendants.
