Really?! Are you kidding me?! I’ve noticed the odd Queen on Queen pin on occasion but then for the coup-de-grace to be the Queen just going back where she came from?! How many times must I have missed something like this over the years?!
1. Qh8+ Qg8
2. Rxf7+ Kxf7
3. Qf6 mate
– Craigaroo
1. Qh8+ qg8

1. Qh8+ Qg8 2. R×f7 Kxf7 3. Qf6#
very nice puzzle, Qh8+, Qg8, Rxf7+, Kxf7 & Qf6#
Tricky one but should be easy if you are fond of epaulette mates. 1. Qh8+ Qg8 2. Rxf7+! Kxf7 3. Qf6#
I got this one in less than 5 seconds, but not really through pattern recognition but just simple calculation from the obvious start, though the mate itself is a pattern I have seen quite often over the years. An easy mate in 3 will all moves forced:
1. Qh8 Qg8
2. Rf7 Kf7
3. Qf6# and the black major pieces betray their king.
The hardest of the moves to spot
Nice mate in three:
1. Qh8+ Qg8
2. Rxf7+!! Kxf7
3. Qf6#
All black moves are forced.
1. Qh8 Qg8 2. Rf7+ Kf7 3. Qf6#
1. Qh8 Qg8 2. Rf7+ Kf7 3. Qf6#
Qh8+ Black queen has to go to g8 to defend the king
White rook takes f7 pawn, check. King has to take rook
Now Qf6+
I see it!
1.Qh8+ Qg8 2.Rxf7+!! Kxf7 3.Qf6 mate!
Kamalakanta
1. Qh8 Qg8 2. Rf7 Kf7 3. Qf6#
Queen H8 check, queen G8, Rook takes F7 check, king takes F7, Queen F6 mate
Overwhelming response and 100 % correct.
