What is your round 1 prediction? Here is the official website.
The (Bulgarian) President Georgi Parvanov opened M-Tel Masters 2007
(Sofia, May 9, 2007) The President of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov opened the super chess tournament M-Tel Masters 2007.
“I am happy to congratulate everybody with the double celebration – the day of Europe and the beginning of this tournament. I remember the previous two editions of M-Tel Masters. Here were played real examples of high-class chess games. I expect this to happen again this year because I see how strong the players in the tournament are. I wish good luck to all the participants and to the lovers of chess I wish many thrilling moments” – with these words the President announce the official opening of the tournament.
“I am very glad that for three years M-Tel Masters took its place along with competitions like Wijk aan Zee with a 70-year history and Linares with 35-year history, the director of M-Tel Masters Silvio Danailov announced.
After the end of the ceremony for the official opening of M-Tel Masters the six GMs that will take part in the competition went to the National Palace of Culture to see the latest spectacle of Nikolina Chakardakova entitled “This is us”. In it the singer presents music, songs and dance from all the regions of Bulgaria.
Topalov 1-0 Nisipeanu
Adams 1/2 Sasikiran
Mamedyarov 1/2 Kamsky
I didn’t picture Adams being so tiny…How big is Danailov?
Adams isn’t particularly tiny – five foot nine at least, and quite sturdy.
My main prediction is that the website will carry on not working properly, or is it just my computer?
Percy
Topalov 1/2 Nisipeanu
Adams 1/2 Sasikiran
Mamedyarov 1-0 Kamsky
Topalov ususally starts slow so I think they’re probably all going to be draws.
5 foot 9? sorry dude…thats tiny. haha
My predictions:
Topalov 0-1 Nisipeanu
Adams 0-1 Sasikiran
Mamedyarov 1-0 Kamsky
Topalov Nisipeanu 1-0
Adams Sasikiran 1-0
Mamedyarov Kamsky 1/2
who’s this girl besides Danailov?
Nice: racist jokes.
Or if by any chance you’re serious, it’s Sasikiran. Or Nisipeanu – he’s got a ponytail. Let’s do homophobic jokes instead.
Percy.
I am going to watch the Kamsky games every day. This first game against Mamedyarov is going to be tough. I hope Kamsky wins but Mamedyarov is very good.
I thought the games started late today. But Kamsky is already up to move 10. time is only 8:50 am NYCity time.
GO GATA GO.
hehe:) this is sasikiran.
btw there is live comment on chessdom
Could someone please post the pgn? Official site isn´t working on my computer.
Thanks!
12…Nbd7 by Kamsky looks like a lemon of a move
thank you – I thoght this is danailov’s wife
Topalov is holding no.1 !!!
Kamsky looks terrible this game–good thing it’s just a warmup for Elista!
For move 43., Topalov is nearly in zugzwang. Bc1 doesn’t seem damaging, but it doesn’t really help either. Qf3 is possible too…
43…Bd4!
Topalov is finished! Nisi’s knights are eyeing the K-Q forking square f4. Adios, Vessy.
Nice win for Nisi… (assuming it’s over, which it looks like after Bd4).
Kamsky Nbd7 was terrible and he lost from that move onward. I mean white moved only pawns and the 2 knights and had a winning position. I would think full development should have held the game for black. I guess this is the new chess. Kamsky is just not playing like he did back in early 1990’s when he was a top gun. Come on Gata you can do it again.
Gata should beat Bacrot in the candidates matches. But he has a bad start this year in Mtel. Last year he had only one loss to Topalov. Now he starts out with a loss.
Well we can not win them all. Even Kramnik lost to Aronian.
Gata had a lot more time out of the opening and then it looks like he might have lost on time. Not sure if it was a flag or not.
Nisipeanu beats Topalov with a nice counterattack. Good game!
Topalov lost
Kamsky lost
This is a tournament of
hasbeens combined with players who
will never reach the top.
The only REAL top player in this tournament is Shakryar.
Steven
Kamsky lost on time !!!!
How is it possible that super GM cannot deal with their clock ?
Does it happen often ???
Olivier
Matches are over.
Topalov 0-1 Nisipeanu
Adams 1/2 Sasikiran
Mamedyarov 1-0 Kamsky
Topalov lost to Nisi. Wow.
Gata lost
Adams draw.
Topalov lost vs. Dieter … 🙂 according to M-Tel web site …
oh oh …
results 🙂 Nisipieanu smashed out Topalov’s blood lol
Round 1 results:
0-1 Topalov-Nisipeanu
1-0 Shak-Kamsky
½-½ Adams-Sasikiran
Now that round 1 is over, I predict that Kamsky will try to improve his openings and that Mamedyarov has good chances to win this event.
“Anonymous said…
Topalov is holding no.1 !!!”
Huh?
Top and Kamsky lost
Adams drew
Please let me know, I’m at work and some websites are blocked here, including chess, so I can’t follow the official website. Did Mamedyarov win? I support him against Kamsky, and my other predictions are Topalov and Sasikiran.. So all wrong?
Please let me know the results..

Ooh no ! What is this moderation now Susan ? It’s 14:04 right now and the last message here was sent at 10:13.. Can’t be accepted, especially when we have such supertournements.. Why do you do this?
Melody
I think there are some problems with the add comments feature. I made one earlier and either it failed the moderation test (I don’t think so) or it got lost in the ether.
not really sure what kamsky was trying to do. kinda was all over the place without any real strategy. maymderov sure likes to move his pawns in the opening. did he move 50 pawns before a major piece??? im being facitious. that game was hard to follow. topalov sure ignored that dark bishop threat. i thought for sure hed take it but instead moved his pawn and payed for his negligence. whos the shortest gm. isnt kasparov around 5’3.id guess kasparov is 5’6. does anyone know his height.
