From the FIDE Office on April 4
Happy Birthday, Kirsan Nikolaevich!
Elista FIDE Office and FIDE Secretariat on behalf of the World Chess Federation cordially congratulate the Head of the Republic of Kalmykia and FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov on his Birthday! We wish you, Kirsan Nikolaevich, health, happiness, good luck and prosperity for the years to come. May success always attend you wherever you are and whatever you do!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Sounds like the sort of tripe that communist sycophants used to say to their ‘Great Leaders’.
Ilyumzhinov is the worst thing that’s ever happened to chess, and an almost certain murderer.
Why do you even post this sickening claptrap?
How nauseatingly Soviet of FIDE.
The Guardian, September 21, 2006: “Life is not all plain sailing for Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the flamboyant leader of the Russian republic of Kalmykia. For a start, his Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II needs constant repairs thanks to the rutted roads of his impoverished fiefdom. And then there is the danger of alien abduction. He has already been pressganged into one trip on a UFO – in 1997 when he was on a business trip to Moscow. “They took me from my apartment and we went aboard their ship,” he says, sitting in his office in Kalmykia’s capital, Elista. “We flew to some kind of star. They put a spacesuit on me, told me many things and showed me around. They wanted to demonstrate that UFOs do exist.”
Did ET bring him a present??
awfulhangover,
Please tell me you have a link for that… I just need to read it 🙂
I want to say anyway that I have to recognize that Kirsan loves chess, unfortunatly in all the wrong ways, and his personal fortune has allowed him to make all the wrong moves.
It’s the story of civilization: Love, Money, Power and Wisdom are never found together.
