White to move. Is this a draw since it is opposite color Bishops? This was my simul game this morning against the young phenom Jonathan Chiang of Texas (just turned 6 years old and rated 1535). Jonathan’s teacher is GM Babakuli Annakov, Turkmenistan’s first ever GM, now residing in Texas.

1.bf4+! kxf4 (what else?)
2.h6 …
and the h – pawn will run through
greetings, Vohaul
Yes, opposite colors bishops are always a draw! Will see Vohaul’s solution offer later.
So what was the result?
jeez Susan putting the beatdown on a 6 year old? 🙂
I don’t see a win for white. I looked at bf4+ but after white plays h8(Q) black has his pawn on f3 and his king on g3 and I’m worried that white won’t be able to get her queen on the f2 dark square to prevent the black pawn from wearing a dress.
1.bf4+ kxf4
2.h6 kg3 (e.g)
3.h7 f4
4.h8=q f3
5.qb8+ kg2
6.qe5 +-

e.g. 6. … bb1
7.qxa5 f2
8.qd5+ kg1
9.qg5+ kh2
10.qc1 bd3
11.qd2 kg1
12.qxd3 f1=q
13.qxf1+ kxf1
