How do you deal with 4…Qb6?
3.Rxd7 is not:
a) actually a capture;
b) the right move.
Oh! You meant 3.Rxd8. Yes, it wins. No, it’s not the best move.

I think this would work…
1.Rd8+ Bf8 2.Qh6 Rxd8 3.Qg7+ Bxg7 4.Rxd8+ Bf8 5.Rxf8 mate.

Much more artistic, Jim N! And more practical too….
1. Rxd8
Unquestionable.

Yes, this does win. Jim N’s 3.Qg7+ is much cleaner, though.
Wow, Qg7+ is a nice one…
I first found the variation which gives black time to promote (does anyone find a defense for black here? I predict it is winning, too), afterwards I found another line forced by checks but it is much longer than the Qg7+ line:
[1. Rd8+, Bf8 2. Qh6, Rxd8]
3. Qxf6+, Kg8 4. Nh6+!, Bxh6 5. Rxd8+, Bf8 6. Qg5+, Kh8 7. Rxf8#.
Greetings
Jochen
Rd8 seems very powerful to me!
