e5 looks very strong! A few possible variations:
1. e5! Nd7
2. Nxf7!! Kxf7 (or Re8)
3. Bd6! 1-0
1. e5! Ng4
2. Nxc8! Rxd4
3. Ne7+!! Kh8 (or Kf8)
4. Bxd4 Qxe7
5. Bxb6 1-0
1. e5! Ne8
Not sure about this line, but White’s position looks promising after
2. Bxa3
1. Nb5, pxN
2. Qf4, Qd7
3. RxQ
not clear it wins, but otherwise White remains a pawn down.
Black’s Rd8 is guarded only by the Q, and protects the back rank. 1. Nb5 cb 2. Qf4 and Black must choose among 2…R:d4 2. Q:c7, 2…Qd7 3. R:d7 R:d7, or 2…Q:f4 3. R:d8+ and mate next.
Well, I can see that white wants to deflect the queen from guarding d8, but I am not really seeing the correct line. Definitely overlooking something here.
I see it now. Yikes! The second move is the hard one to find.
