Rd5 wins a piece, isn’t it?
Just a plain Rxd5 looks good. If black takes back the rook white takes the queen.
Develop the bishop to e2 and connect the castles.
1. Rxd5.
And black’s queen has no protection.
1….QxQ
2. RxQ wins a piece.
If Black decides to sac a queen and play
1…exd5. Play can continue:
2. Nf6 ch and after 2..gxf6 than
3. QxQ and White is up a queen for a Rook.
Thanks for the puzzle
Best wishes
A Weiler
1… Rxd5 wins a piece.
BxN
Rxd5
Rook takes on d5
Rook takes on d5 …
Rxd5 winning the knight
Rxd5 wins the night.
Rxd5 wins the house
RxN
Black can’t take back or will hang the Queen. If QxQ then RxQ and white is still up a Knight.
Rxd5 and the rook is immune from capture because suddenly the queen is undefended.
Rxd5 and the rook is immune from capture because the queen is no longer defended.
Rxd5 and it looks clear… if Qxd6 then Rxd6, if the pawn takes the rook then the queen is dead.
1. Rxd5 exd5
2. Nf6+ gxf6 (forced)
3. Qxf6 with a strong attack
R x d5 wins a Knight, at least.
Is it so wrong playing Rxd5?
Ciao
Luigi
1. Rxd5 wins a knight straight away.
Rxd5, of course, and black can’t recaptire the rook because the loss of the queen. And if black plays QxQ, then RxQ for white, winning a knight.
not sure it’s so simple
1. Rxd5 Qa5
2. Rd1 Qxa2 (2. Rd3 Qe1+)
and now lot’s of possibilities but white’s king will have to run for cover; white still has the advantage but it’s not clear “win a full piece with no drawback”
3. Qb6 (protecting b pawn) Bd7
4. Nd6 I suppose provides W king escape by closing the d file
what about 2. . . b5
3. a3 Bb7
4. Nc3 b4 any attack for black here? seems like black has possibilities
not sure it’s so simple
1. Rxd5 Qa5
2. Rd1 b5 (Rd3 Qe1+)
3. a3 Bb7
4. Nc3 b5
and now black seems to have attacking chances. Certainly more complicated than “win a free piece with no drawbacks”
maybe 3. Qxc5 is best Qxa2
4. Nd6 and white King escapes
