This past weekend, they participated in the two-day Florida State Scholastic Championship chess tournament known as SuperState VII and finished in 1st Place! In addition to the fantastic job by the whole team, Ian Gonzalez went undefeated to finish in 1st Place in the K-12 U/1000 category! Incredible! A great job by our players as well as our Upper School Sponsor, Mr. Peter Konen.
MCDS was also well-represented in the K-12 Open section. The team of Moshe Libbin, Adrien Pitchman, and Neil Mehta finished in 7th Place overall in a section that included players that compete with national, international, and grand masters.
MCDS third-grader, Andre Harper-Rosenberg, also did well tying for 7th Place in the K-3 Open section.
The K-12 U/1200 team of Moshe Libbin, Adrien Pitchman, Daniel Goldfarb, and Miroslav Kriz head to Ohio next month for the National High School Championships in Columbus.
