The Mazandaran chess team of Iran convincingly won the 2nd Asian Women’s Chess League organized by the Al Ain Chess Club under the auspices of the Asian and UAE Chess Federations and Abu Dhabi Sports Council at the Hili Rayhaan Rotana hotel in Al Ain.

The team of WFM Alinasab Mobina, Karimi Yeganeh, WFM Motahare Asadi and Sadati Seyedeh Fatemeh, won the top prize of $3,000. Mobina and Yeganeh registered perfect scores of six points from six rounds. Motahare scored 5 out of 6 while Fatemeh completed the victory with 4.5 out of 6 rounds.

The Iranian girls come from the northern agricultural province of Mazandaran and study chess under the same coach. Chess is very popular in Mazandaran, home of the 13-year-old boy prodigy Iranian national champion.

The Al Etisalat team of Iraq won the silver medal with 7 match points. The team of Al-Fayyadh Zainab Asif Abdula, WIM Al-Rufaye Iman Hasan Mohammed, WFM Jalaluldeen Kareen Kamal J., WFM A-Ali Sali Abbas Abdulzahra and Ruwaida Saad Mohsin Al Naseri won the second prize of $2,000.

The Al Ain Team A won the bronze medal with 5 match points. The team of WFM Al Dhaffari Salma, Shaikha Abdallah Aldhaheri, WCM Al Maamari Wafia Darwish, WFM Wadima Humaid S H Alkalbani and Al-Moaamari Mozah won the bronze medal with 5 match points.
