Maine State Scholastic Chess Team Championships

Orono – The Maine State Scholastic Chess Team Championships were held at the University of Maine Saturday.
It’s a team competition for folks in kindergarten up through seniors in high school.
The tournament was first started back in 1971 and is the largest held in the state this year.
Organizers say it’s a hobby that folks can do all their lives.” It’s mental exercise. It’s also a social endeavor so there’s comraderie here among the opponents.”
