I just arrived in Lubbock, Texas to promote chess. The event is being held at Texas Tech University. The University campus is HUGE, one of the biggest I have ever seen! The head coach of the men’s basketball team here is the legendary Bob Knight. The women’s basketball team is one of the best in the country. The football team is ranked 2nd in their conference and 13th overall in the country. The chess program is run by Dr. Hal Karlsson.
I am staying at the beautiful Woodrow Bed & Breakfast right across the street from the University. The caboose is actually being used as one of the guest rooms.
