great results considering that you didn’t get in to las vegas until early this morning and teaching chess camp all day. well done.
“great results considering”
Since when is the result important in simuls??
Except, of course, in record-breaking ones.
Susan, what was the average level of your opponents in this simul?
the guy with the black pieces in front of you could be my twin … ^^
hopefully he can play a better chess than me and hampered you a lot … ^^
your’s, Vohaul
Where can I get a larger version of that drink container?
[The Ultimate Chill]
That makes the “Big Gulp”
(from 7-11 I think) a little small by comparison!
😉
anonymous,
Why don’t you pick up a chess history book and read about the Simuls that Pillsbury, Alekhine, Capablanca, and Koltanowski gave and then come back to say something intelligent. Losing one game to over 30 is quite an accomplishment.
I am guessing her competitors’ levels were averaged around 2100.
No way, the highest competitor was a 2080, and there were actually several unrated players too, this was definetely not a high-rated simul.
The game that she lost was to a 1256!
I am Susan’s opponent in this picture from her simul held June 16,2006 in Las Vegas. I have previously been rated up to 2148 and have won or tied for 1st in 5 state championship opens in Colorado and South Dakota. I found Susan to be extremely strong in both her patient positional style and very accurate tactics. We had an interesting game in which no piece or pawn was exchanged until move 35! She defeated me after a surprising move that blocked the game but also the escape of my queen. She moved along the boards quickly and confidently as she put on a great show for all who attended the event. I found her to be a beautiful young woman that dresses very well and handles herself as a class act in every way. It was a great privelge to play her and then visit with her later during her book signing. I will forever be a huge supporter of hers. Chess is lucky to have Susan Polgar as a wonderful ambassador of our beloved game. Brad
