The Kuwait Chess Federation organized Kuwait Men’s and Women’s Individual Chess Championships, together with Under 16 Individual Championship from 27th January to 7th February 7, 2015.

The men’s event was a 9-round Swiss tournament with tempo of play 90′ + 30″. CM Khaled Hashem and Bader Alkhaldi shared the first place with 7.5 /9 points each, but Hashem is crowned new national champion thanks to the better Buchholz tie-break.

CM Bader Al-Hajiri remained third with 7 points.

The women’s section was played in an 8-player round-robin format. Suad Al Kanderi and Amenah Alawadhi tied for the first place in with 6/7 points each, but Kanderi prevailed on a better Direct Encounter tie-break to become the 2015 Kuwait Women’s champion.

Abeer Alrasheed finished third with 5,5/7 points.

The Championship Under 16 event was a 12 –player Swiss tournament in 6 rounds with tempo of play 45′.Bader Alamiri became the new Under 16 champion after concluding the race with perfect 6/6 score and leaving the nearest followers full 2 points behind.

Mohammed Almutairi, Omar Al Amiri and Salem Alothman split the second place with 4/6 points but Almutairi and Amiri took the medals on a superior tie-break score.
