NEW DELHI: Women International Master Kruttika Nadig of Maharashtra shunned extravagance and settled for a quick draw against Eesha Karavade in the f inal round to clinch the 35th Parsvnath National Women chess title on Sunday.

Playing safe in the final round, Kruttika settled for a quick draw against third seed Eesha in Sicilian Defence after just 20 moves, which was enough to bag the title with eight points in her kitty.

Defending champion and International Master Tania Sachdev’s title hopes were shattered as she lost her crucial final round game to Asian Junior Champion Mary Ann Gomes of West Bengal and had to be satisfied with second spot with seven points.

Kruttika achieved 11 round Women Grandmaster norm from this championship and also pocketed Rs one lakh as prize money.
