Krasik tops Holiday Cheer Open

Ilya Krasik, 29, of Newton won the 89-player Holiday Cheer Open in Natick, finishing a full point ahead of any rival, 4.5-.5. John Curdo, 78, of Auburn tied for second, with Igor Foygel, Arthur Bisguier, Derek Slater and Todd Chase. Nikita Konovalchuk of Ashland shared first with Winber Xu of Newton in the under-2000 group. Other section winners were Bruce Neal and Rohan Shankar.
A new rated event begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Metrowest Chess Club, at the Kennedy Senior Center, 117 East Central St., Natick. Details and the full crosstables of the December event are available at www.metrowestchess.org.
Weather permitting, the Reggie Boone Memorial, a five-round event, will begin at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at McKay Campus School, Fitchburg State College, 67 Rindge Road, Fitchburg. More details at www.wachusettchess.org.

What’s his rating? I thought John Curdo is 2400? How come he didn’t win?
IM Foygel is over 2500, Curdo is about 2200,So is Bisguire. Krasik’s post tournament rating is 2317.
