Kolkata Open GM Chess Tournament set to roll

KOLKATA, March 23: Eighteen Grandmasters from 15 countries, including India’s K Sasikiran, will be seen in action in the third Kolkata Open GM Chess tournament starting from March 24.

Organisers of tournament and Alekhine Chess Club president K S Bagchi said in an interview that besides Sasikiran there would be six more GMs from India in the fray.

They are Koneru Humpy, Sandipan Chanda, Dibyendu Barua, Nilotpal Das, R B Ramesh and Tejas Bakre.

“A total of 114 players from 15 countries will participate in the tournament which will conclude on April 2. Besides 18 Grandmasters, there would 30 International Masters including five women International Masters in the fray”, Bagchi said.
