Young minds in West Linn conquer the board game that baffles many adults

Even at his young age, Willamette Primary School first-grader Graham Kang, 7, knows how to compete.
Before entering competition, he visualizes himself winning, and then he goes out and wins.
The morning of the recent districtwide, annual primary school chess tournament, Graham was preparing to meet the day when his mother, Sunha Kang, heard him singing a familiar song in another room.
“I am the champion,” he sang. “I am the champion.”
“He seemed very pumped up for the tournament,” his mother said. “And I thought: ‘wow,’ he’s ready.”

Eh. Only thing is, I would want this kid to learn to “win with grace.” Hope he won’t be singing that song after winning every game.
