1. g3+ Kh3 2. Nf2+ Kh2 3. Qh1+ Kxf3 4. Ne4+ Kf4 5. Qf3#
And greetings form Hungary, Susan. You have the greatest blog I have ever seen so far, well done. 🙂
Hi Susan, this is a great position and I think 1.g3+ draws as follows:
1…. Kh3 2.Nf2+ Kxg3(if Kh2 3. Qh1+ Kxg3 4.Qf3+ transposes) 3.Qf3+…(if now Kh4 4.Ne4!!(threat Qh1+ mate in 2)…Qh2(only move or either sacrifice the black queen) 5.Qxf6+ Kh3 6.Qf5+ Kh4(if Kg2 7.Qf1+ mate) 7.Qg5+ Kh3 8.Bf1+ Qg2 9.Qxg2+ Kh4 10.Qg3 or Qg5+ mate)therefore only reply after 3.Qf3+ is 3…Kh2 and I don’t know whether white could win this positon because at first glance it looks overwhelming for white but definitely white draws with 4.Qh3+ since… Kg1 5.Qf1+ Kh2 6.Qh3 + is perpetual check.
If black chooses to give up his queen for the white knight or g3 pawn in some of the lines, I think white is winning or at least has the perpetual check option.
What was the color of the yogurt? 😉
I think its g3 check and Ng5 check and then its over for Korchnoi,
yes or no??
by the way susy you were brilliant last night at the radio chess fm interview; If it werent for those last links i would of missed it which would of been a pitty.!!
I could only hear y voice but that was enough and you have a terrific smile and laugh, hope u never loose it.
So sorry to hear about your laptop stolen, i wouldnt of been able to play in those conditions but then again im not a Polgar, right??
Going to Hungary next year (last week of june???) sounds terrific, is it open for anyone or do u have to be called GAta??
ok goodbye and the million dollar question of who will win open remains to be answered tomorrow, right??
goodnight sleeptight all viewers of this wonderful blog.

1. g3+ Kh3 2. Nf2+ Kh2 3. Qh1+ Kxg3 4. Ne4+! Kf4 5. Qf3#
Anonymous said that (if Kh2 3. Qh1+ Kxg3 4.Qf3+ transposes), but the main line above (move 4) is quite good!
Cheers!
Beco.
Bethabara says :
g3 + Kh3 Ng5 & whiate has at least a perp likely a mate – maybe g3+ Nf2 is also good
1.g3+ Kh3 2.Ng5+ Kh2 (2… fxg5? 3.Qh1X) 3.Nf3+ Kxg3 4. Nxe5 fxe5 – and I think Black here has enough chances for a draw with his two rooks and two passed pawns against the White’s Queen with a Bishop.
White is winning:
1.g3+ Kh3
2.Nf2+ Kxg3 ( 2…Kh2 3.Qh1+ Kxg3 4.Ne4+! Kf4 5.Qf3# fixpoint, Beco.)
3.Qf3+ Kh4 ( 3…Kh2 4.Qh1+ Kg3 5.Ne4+! Kf4 6.Qf3#)
4.Ne4! Qh2
5.Qxf6+ Kh3
6.Qf5+ Kh4 (6…Kg2 7.Qf1#)
7.Qg5+ Kh3
8.Bf1+ Qg2
9.Qg3#
Some say 1. g3+ Kh3 2. Ng5+
Well, then black might play Qxg5+ 🙂
true awful but it was five in the morning and a quick view, i was expecting the King to move to h2 and fork, still with the Qxg5, you can still save the position cant you??
Qxf3 chck and maybe perpetual, although there seems to be a mate over there which i dont have the tranquility to look at or maybe (and most probsably), my strength is to weak.!!!
Anyway do u reckon there´ll be a tiebreak tomorrow, who wins, whos y favourite, whats u opionions on the whole match, the games, the only slav, queen and catalan variants (no e4 or others), the toilets, etc.
anyhone including susan or polgar issteres, jeniffer, irina, etc, its open, jja
bye bye,
jb.
