The 11th Izmir International Open Chess Tournament was held immediately after the Istanbul Chess Olympiad from 12th to 20th September at the Alsancak Municipality Culture Center in Izmir, Turkey. The tournament was dedicated to the memory of Ali Ipek.

188 players competed in the 9-round Swiss event. The total of 10.250 USD was offered as prize fund, with 2000 reserved for the winner.

Ukrainian GM Nazar Firman took the trophy after edging IMs Morchiashvili and Quparadze on tie-break. The three players finished on 7,5 points each.
