Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Ivanchuk will be #1 again by the end of the year. He’s the big genius in chess.
Why #1 AGAIN – he has never been there as far as I know…
Ivanchuk was tied for 1st in the FIDE ranking once before.
Just checked on Wikipedia – according to this source he never got any higher than no. 2 in the World.
No- he was second place at different times – first in 1991 when he went above Karpov but was still below Kasparov
-last in 2007 when he was second to Anand.
He will be second on the next list as things stand (ie virtual rating he is second) but several possible ranks he could end up including 1st after Bibao.
Isn’t it nice the lowest rated Alekseev came in better than Shirov and mamedyarov, together with the american superstar Kamsky?
O yes, he is talented. Well done.
okay (the real one)

See, this little piece is a girl. Keep her safe or else Spam Sloan will put his dirty old man germs on her or else he will give her his withered limb.
okay
Ivanchuk is back!
He has won two supertournaments this year both by atleast a point!
Ivanchuk is a real legend- first was in the world top 3 back in the 1980s, and looks like he will have a good chance to be world top 3 in 2010s (just over 16 months away), to make a record 4 different decades where he was in the top 3 in- what a record that would be!!
4 decades is amazing- Kasparov and Karpov only did it in 3 different decades- according to chessmetrics even Lasker and Steinitz did not beat 4 different decades in which they were top 3. This will be a testament to Ivanchuk’s longevity, he gets back to the top even if he drops down now and then.
Interesting maths regarding his 4 decades of playing. Although he is born in 1969, which makes him 39 years old…
😉
PS: Bu it’s true, he is about to become a legendary chessplayer.
bobby f- that’s because you only need 20 odd years to spread 4 different decades! (end of 1980s to start of 2010s). He timed it just right.
Although born the same year Anand took 4 more years to reach top three, however Anand has a much more consistent record of never dropping out of the top 3 for 12 years. Ivanchuk on the other hand is up and down like a yoyo.
ivanchuk a Yo Yo !!! Ah ! AH !!! AH !!!
And Anand a stone !!!
and then what ???
