Ivan Ivanisevic retains the title of Serbian Champion

The 2012 Serbian Chess Championship was held from 23rd April to 5th May in Vrnjačka Banja. Fourteen players with average elo of 2534 competed in the round robin tournament.

GM Ivan Ivanisevic convincingly won the tournament with 10/13 points leaving the nearest followers point and a half behind and claiming his 4th title of the national champion in last five years. The row was interrupted only in 2010 when GM Nikola Sedlak took the trophy.

On the shared 2nd place with 8.5 points each are GM Milos Perunovic, champion in 2005 and 2007, and GM Dusan Popovic, who is making a steady progress after the difficult surgery.

GM Branko Damljanovic held the lead in the first half of the tournament, but later on a pair of defeats pushed him to the 4th place with 8 points.
