The score is now 2-2. There are 4 games left. Game 5 will be on Monday with Gata having White again. The pressure is now back on Topalov.
Here is the commentary of game 4.
I will once again do LIVE commentary of game 5 on Monday at 8 am NY time and 7 am Texas time.
Thanks to 26,000+ of you for joining us today. This will be an exciting match.
What is your prediction for game 5?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
After that epic a draw would be just fine.
I hope Danialov does a thorough investigation of this loss. It is possible that Kamsky was getting outside help from a computer – especially during key phases of the game. First, we should observe Kamsky’s improved time management which very likely indicates computer use. Next is for Russia to reclaim the title – Kramnik is now banished by Putin from playing outside the USSR in all liklihood. Last is Bulgaria’s need for gas supplies, Gazprom’s sponsorship of Kramnik and Gary Kasparov running the “Other Russia” protest movement. It could very well be that this loss by Topalov is deliberate, like with Keres.
topalov will play the najdorf on monday. guaranteed.
Yes, there was a clear need for computer assistance during the first 11 moves of the game – only a genius as Topalov could manage without such help.
A oneway victory. No reason to predict 1-0 for the next one as well. Topa didn’t have much play today; he’s in trouble now.
Kamsky is a tough match player, while everybody tends to judge him on tournament results. Even in Bulgary he proves to have a good chance!
This picture is just SCARY!
Topalov will win on Monday – and whole match.
Topalov is getting screwed in his own country! Serves him right. He was always an overrated coffee house player
Let’s have a look into what’s going on at the Topalov-camp right now…:
Danailov: “I don’t know what’s going on. Instead of 3-1 it’s 2-2. How could that happen?”
Ginchev: “I have never seen such strange things happen as in the 4th game. Kamsky didn’t get into time trouble before the first time control. Very unusual indeed. And his complaint about the lighting…very strange in my opinion…”
Cheparinov: “And by the way, Chessbase did broadcast the game live on their playchess server without permission of the organizer…that’s us…”
Danailov: “Are you kidding?”
Ginchev: “I think I am hit by a train…”
Danailov: “We must file a protest immediately. There is no time to lose…”
Let’s leave the Topalov team now…
Lesson: We shouldn’t be surprised when on Monday Topalov will get a forfeit win or (in case he loses the match) he gets a free Title match against the winner of Anand-Kamsky next year…
I am a Gata Kamsky fan and this was great! Who would have predicted before the match that at the half way point it would be 2-2! With four games left Gata is in a very good position to win this match and face Anand! Topalov is a great player and plays the most interesting games to watch and play over so I look forward to the next four games between these two great fighters. I am enjoying Kamsky vs Topalov games a lot better than the Kramnik vs Anand match games.
Topo is starting to choke
The commie bast..d is going down
give Topo another bottle of Vodka and he is toast
Kamsky will try to make a draw on game 5 on monday, and then go for the full point in game 6 where he will have the white pieces again. That’s my prediction :). Look forward to see what Topalov will come up with, when he again will face the black pieces in game 6. Will he change opening, and perhaps choise the sicilian. Much of this also depends on the outcome of game 5.
Another one who talks about something he knows little about.
TOMORROW KAMSKY HAS WHITE!
anon 2:25pm “Kamsky is a tough match player, while everybody tends to judge him on tournament results.”
You are right- and so many dismissed is 1990s record in match-play as not relevant- even though it clearly showed his tough match-play character and it showed in the World Cup too (I actually predicted he would be the winner of the last 16 despite his rating being one of the lower ones left due to this).
But so many just say ‘Oh but look at his rating’ etc. missing the point about how good he is in matches- completely different to someone like Ivanchuk (or even Topalov so far) who are brilliant but inconsistent.
I couldn’t believe after the World Cup so many predicted Topalov to just destroy Kamsky- he had a year to prepare too and his history suggests never take him lightly in matches- yet this was a popular view.
Am I correct that up until yesterday, Kamsky never won against Topalov in a regular 2hour/1hour/etc. chess game?
yes tour correct dude.
