Monarch to padre’s eighth rank
since 1.Nh6 looks drawish 1…Be8 and so does 1.Kf8 Bxg8 then I think whate has to do something crazy like 1.Nf6. Now after 1…exf6 2.Kf8 the Black king has to move away, White captures the biship and should be able to promote one of his pawns.
I hope I’m correct
1. Kf8!
It’s not pretty but I can’t see Black’s root to a draw after 1.Kf8 Bxg8 2.Kxg8 Kf6 3.Kh7 e6 4.Kh6
1.Kf8 looks like leads to a won K&P ending.
Nf6 and Kf8 =)
I think the key is that the bishop has to be driven away from the e8-h5 diagonal:
1. Nh6 Be8
2. Kf8 Bd7
3. g5 Kd5
Black has to try to reach the pawns from behind.
4. f5
And then I have to admit I’m not sure how to continue…
1.Nf6 exf6 2.Kf8 +-
NF6, KF8
nh6 be8
g5 kd6
kf8 kd7
ng8 e6
nf6+ etc
I gave up and asked Fritz 12. Well, I’ll tell you this: the solution is incredibly difficult to see without aid.
f5
Well if it is not Kf8, which may draw by one temp then lets try g5. Bg8 loses so we enter a tricky line where I think White wins with some cute tricks with his queen, either mating or squewing the black queen.
