Someone that doesn’t get much press, but I think should be watched in this event is GM Yury Shulman.
Shulman is not in the same league as Onischuk. Onischuk has been around 2650 FIDE for a long time. He has more knowledge than Nakamura.

Onischuk is a good choice for Group A, Shulman is in Group B. If they were to meet in the final and I was a betting man, I would go with Onischuck also. But I’m not a betting man and I always enjoy the cinderella aspect. From that perspective, Shulman is my choice.
Joel Benjamin will win for sure. It’s his year, this 2006.
