The 2013 edition of the Belgian Chess Championships finished yesterday in Antwerpen. Junior IM Tanguy Ringoir took home the national trophy after winning his last round game against untitled Rein Verstraeten.

Ringoir also won the Belgian Blitz Championship played on July 12th.

The only GM and rating favorite Alexandre Dgebuadze arrived to the last round sharing first place with Ringoir with 5.5 points, however he was not able to defeat and even ended up losing against FM Jan Rooze. Thus, Dgebuadze finished on shared third place with FM Stef Soors and IM Geert van der Stricht.

Second place went to IM Stefan Docx, who finished with 6/9 points.

The Open section attracted no less than 174 players. FM Stefan Beukema was the clear winner with 8 points; he left his closest followers a whole point behind.
