IM Ipatov takes clear first in qualifications and final
Report by chessdom

Alexander Ipatov, the young talented International Master who is commenting the match Anand Topalov live at Chessdom.com, convincingly won the Sofia Blitz open tournament. After gaining first position in the Swiss system qualifications on Wednesday, today he managed to finish a full 1,5 points ahead of the competition in the 17 rounds final.

In the last two days IM Ipatov managed to comment live the games from the World Chess Championship, win the tournament, report from the scene and the press conference, walk around the city, play table tennis, and arrange himself a simul for Sunday (stay tuned for info on this). If he manages to convert the energy he has into ELO points, we will soon be seeing him climbing up the chess rankings.

In the tournament participated also the winner of the parallel open – IM Drenchev, the strongest Bulgarian player U16 IM Kiprian Berbatov, the women national team player WIM Elitsa Raeva, and the Chessdom Challenge Cup 2007 participants – Sasho Andreev, Darena Sirkova, and FM Hristo Velchev, as well as multiple local strong blitz players.

The tournament was organized by Dimitar Iliev and was part of the parallel program of WCC 2010.
