ICC is granting everyone a chance to claim a FREE PASS to sample the benefits of the best online club in the world. If you haven’t tried ICC for a while, or if you had a trial just last week and it ended, or if you have had a free trial long ago, and believe you are not eligible for one now, then read on! ICC is giving everyone (and we mean “everyone”) the chance to sign up today for another free trial period!
Your free pass will run during the first half of one of the biggest elite tournaments of the year, from Saturday, 24th September until midnight on Wednesday, 5th October – and during this time, not only can you play on ICC but you will also be able to tune-in to Chess.FM’s live coverage of the first leg of the Grand Slam Final in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and listen to daily coverage from our expert GM team of Yasser Seirawan, Joel Benjamin, Alex Yermolinsky, Larry Christiansen, Miguel Illescas, Gregory Kaidanov, Ronen Har-Zvi and Suat Atalik. And each round, there will be a free Game of the Day video recap by former US Champion GM Alex Yermolinsky – and there will also be the New In Chess trivia on GOTD, where each round viewers can enter (whether ICC members or not – but if you do win, you must join ICC to claim your prize) the contest to win a one year subscription to New In Chess magazine.

ICC is the greatest internet chess site.
Or you can play for *free* at FICS (freechess.org), the first ever Internet chess server.
It has good strong players too. And the client interfaces are pretty good these days.
Why pay money when you can play for free?
ICC has more players, but that can change if more people find out about freechess.org
I’ve been playing regularly on freechess.org this last year (after ICC kept increasing their price), and can vouch for FICS.
I’m on ICC right now listening to live coverage of Carlsen vs. Nakamura, with great commentary from living legend GM Yasser Seirawan and GM Kaidanov.
Quality services, and high standards, that’s what ICC is all about…and at 6$ a month, cheap.
The human commentary is indeed nice.
However, these days, chessdom.com has fine live coverage with as accurate computer analysis (or possibly more), along with human analysis. Today, I saw not only Carlsen-Nakamura, but also Aronian-Ivanchuk with perfectly great analysis, and also Vallejo-Anand — all for free.
You should try the Free Internet Chess Server (FICS) at freechess.org
