Huge Interest for ECU Events
Bid deadline for the European Championships 2012 has elapsed

On 1st July the bid deadline for the European Championships 2012 has elapsed. The European Chess Union (ECU) office in Berlin received a large number of bids which are posted bellow. European events are becoming extremely popular, as ECU Marketing Director Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou highlighted in his article.

European Youth Championship 2012

– Halkidiki, Greece (optional European Youth Rapid 2012)
– Jerusalem, Israel
– Ohrid, FYROM
– Praha, Czech Republic
– Sibenik, Croatia
– Urgup, Cappadocia, Turkey

European Club Cup (men and women) 2012

– Antalya – Kemer – Kundu – Belek, Turkey
– Eilat, Israel
– Rhodes, Greece
– Rijeka, Croatia
– Tbilisi Region, Georgia

European Individual Championship 2012

– Antwerpen, Belgium (men and women)
– Gaziantep, Turkey (only women – including Rapid and Blitz)
– Plovdiv, Bulgaria (only men)

European Individual Senior Championship 2012

– Kaunas, Lithuania (incl. Senior Rapid Championship)

European Senior Team Championship 2012

– Courmayeur or Saint Vincent, Italy
– Dresden, Germany
– Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia
– St. Veit/Glan, Austria

European Youth Team Championship 2012

European Amateur Championship 2012

Mureck, Austria has submitted a bid for the EU Youth Championship 2012 (U8 – U14)

Furthermore there is an offer to hold the European Open Municipal Children Team Championship 2011 – 2013 in Varna, Bulgaria. As this event is not yet included in the ECU Tournament Rules the Board has to decide in which way this championship should be handled.
