what’s wrong with 1.f4
What’s wrong with 1. f4? A few things:
1. It does not help with development of pieces, so at best White forfeits the advantage of having the first move;
2. It opens two dangerous diagonals aiming at the white king;
3. The pawn is weak on f4 and will either be lost eventually or will require extra effort to preserve.
The opening scores poorly in GM games (around 0.43 compared with about 0.56 for all GM games) and is rarely played by professionals(less 0.1% of GM games).
1.f4 stinx. And players who play it do, too. I hope Naka loses and the old fart wins.

As for f4, I hear it is going to sue g4 for impersonation. G4 is going to counter-sue against f4 for the fake-f4 posts on alt.crazy.loons.net.
