Hong Kong International Open Chess Championship 2012 is taking place from 28th September to 2nd October at the Convocation Room of the University of Hong Kong.
The tournament is co-organized by the Faculty of Science, University of Hong Kong, and HKUSU Chess and Board Games Club. The prize fund is sponsored by Rosneft under the patronage of FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System of 9 rounds. Rate of play will be 2 hours for the first 40 moves and then 30 minutes for the rest of the game. Title norms may be possible depending on the number of titled players. The latest rules and regulations of FIDE shall apply.
