1. Nd6! It’s a hammer blow.
Short was actually winning and missed a deadly shot (19 Nd6! wins in all variations).

saravana: Nd6!!..gr8 tactics on the way!..
1) Nd6! rd8 now what ?
I see how if black captures the Knight on d6 with the queen or pawn, he loses the queen to a discovery/check or a royal fork. But how does white proceed if black replies with some quiet move, like 1…Nc8. What’s the proper line? If 2 Nxc6+, like before, then 2…Kd7 removes check and protects the queen, which is under discovered attack from White’s queen. So, what’s the proper continuation in 1…Nc8 line?
