Grandmaster David Shengelia Winner in Graz Open

The 18th Graz International Open took place from 27th August to 4th September in Graz, Austria. The organizer is Landesverband Steiermark des Österreichischen Schachbundes and the playing venue is Brauhaus Puntigam.

The tournament was played over 9 rounds of Swiss pairings and in two rating groups.

The Group A had 63 players and six Grandmasters in the field. Top seeded Vyacheslav Ikonnikov (2553) from Russia. Group B had 52 participants.

The local Grandmaster David Shengelia took a clear first place with 7.5 points. Half a point behind is top Austrian woman IM Eva Moser. GM Zdenko Kozul, who was in joint lead after round 7, suffered two losses in the remaining games and slipped down to shared 5th place.

Raimund Lipp won the Group B with 7.5 points. Full standings bellow.
