IM Melia Salome wins the women title, tie in the men section

The 69th Georgian Men’s Chess Championship was held on 11-24th January in Tbilisi. After the exhausting struggle in all-play-all 13 rounds tournament, Grandmasters Merab Gagunashvili and Tamaz Gelashvili shared the first place with 9.0 points each. More information at FIDE.com

The 67th Georgian Women’s Championship took place from 9th until 22nd January in Tbilisi. IM Melia Salome, formerly twice European U18 Champion, maintained the margin ahead of the storming IM Nino Khurtsidze and won the title of the Georgian champion.
