1. Qb3+
1. Qb3+ Qe6
2. Re1
if 2….Qxb3 then Rxe1++
Tom
Yikes.
I meant to say
if 2…Qxb3 then Rxe8++
Chess can be easy but typing and algebraic notation are always hard for me.
Tom
Of course, after
1. Qb3+ Qe6
2. Re1 Ra1
3. Qxe6+ Rxe6
4. Rxa1 Rxc6
or
1. Qb3+ Kh8
2. Qxa2 Qxc6
Black has a pawn for the exchange.
Am I’m missing some killer move for White somewhere? Or is this just a “game saving” rather than “game winning” tactic?
Oops!! Never mind.
1. Qb3+ Qe6
2. Re1 Ra1
3. Qxe6+ Rxe6
4. Rxa1 Re8
4. … Rxc6???
5. Ra8+ wins
5. c7 wins. Or
1. Qb3+ Kh8
2. Qxa2 Qxc6?
3. Qa7 looks very strong too.
Since Black apparently can’t afford to capture the c-pawn after White wins the rook . . . it’s a game winning tactic, rather than merely a game saving tactic. 🙂
Is it Qb3+ ?
