This poster / sign was recently created by the Kasparov Chess Foundation to promote its own organization. There are at least 4 funny chess bloopers. Can you find them?
The event is a fundraising simul by WC and Grandmaster Garry Kasparov. These are some of the conditions:
* Auction Terms: Bidders will need to be prequalified in order to place a bid, which will start at $2000 per slot.
* Participants must have an ELO or USCF lifetime rating of 2000 or less (these are ratings from chess federations.)
* Transportation, hotel accommodations, and other expenses incurred to attend the event are the sole responsibility of the winning bidder and their guests.
* Additional terms apply.
* Please read through the individual auctions for further details.
For more information on how you can start a minimum $2,000 bid, please go to eBay. Good luck!
Maybe he too has convered to Fischer random..
i lind, this would be an illegal Fischer Random position as well.
Ok, shuffle chess it is!
Well… Here are at least two…
1) The Bishops and Knights are reversed in what their opening positions should be…, and
2) The Black King and Queen are reversed as well…
Dr. O
This is embarrassing for the KCF. It shows they don’t pay so much attention to little details. This comes from a man who wants to rule Russia.
Yury is right. This is bad coming from one of the biggest names in chess. It shows to me that Garry is not really involved with the KCF and that he’s only a name for money since no one will give money to Khodarkovsky.
Who’s the head of the Kasparov Foundation? Isn’t Garry the President?
No, Kasparov is too busy running for President of Russia even though he has zero chance of succeeding.
Mikhail Khodarkovsky is the President of the Kasparov Foundation according to the information given by them.
I saw plenty of errors like this before but never from a chess organisation. This is horrible! Maybe Garry forgot how to play chess? 🙂
This is funny but not really. A sad example of incompetent people.
It is OK by me and is effective. I could not care less about the little details.

1. Garry is wrong. Should be Gary with one r.
2. He doesn’t play chess any more.
I have seen many posters with similar erroneous details, that I got accustomed already. They have their magic about them.
Remember interviewer Chery or Cindy or I don’t remember, from your fantastic TV interview at your center? Just check out the last move she played over the board. It was a King jump of over two squares. I thought it very entertaining.
Here are some more bloopers!

1. The spelling
2. The knights and bishops transposed
3. The king and queen transposed
4. The board is turned 90 degrees
I know, I’m a pedant.
The Whts B and N are on wrong squares and also Blks Queen B and N are placed on wrong squares.
TFK
Phil Harris, you are a pedant, and the board is not turned 90 degrees.
The board isn’t turned 90 degrees, but it looks like it could have been turned 360 degrees! (lol)
I can here the director of photography for the photo shoot…OK, let’s put the horsie over here…
jacques said this would be an illegal Fischer Random position, so I can only assume that it is the latest and greatest chess variant: Kasparov random!
What are the four errors? I only see these 2: bishop and knight are swapped. Black king and queen are swapped.
You’ll receive in the mail a filled out scoresheet of the game you are to pretend to play against him.
3 sets of bishops and knight mix up and King + Queen mix up. That’s 4.
Sorry but $2K to play a simul? And Kasparov won’t play anyone over 2000? What a joke! Big joke! Perhaps if Kasparov fix this poster, I’ll bid $25.
Yes Bigbear, you are correct on both counts 🙂

The Master Bobby Fischer has said publicly that Garry Kasparov when giving simuls in the past, would only play 1900’s and below and only 25 boards. Bobby has said when he played simuls he would play all comers ( all ratings) and up to 60 boards!! Hmmm Fischer didnt have pentium processors and super computers either. But they keep saying Kasparov is the best. At what?
I saw Susan playing IMs, FMs, NMs, etc. when she gives simul. She even played 2200+ players in her world record simul in Florida and won.
$2,000? Forget about it!!! No way Garry! I have to pay $3+ for a gallon of gas. I have to feed my kids, pay my mortgage, take care of insurance bills and everything else in between. You’re a multi-millionaire. Why don’t you donate $50K to your foundation. Better yet, why don’t you ask your buddy billionaire Khodarkovsky to give a couple hundred millions dollars to chess?
Leonid
GK is not worth $2K. No way. I echo Leonid. $25 is my limit for GK. I’ll pay $50 to play against Topalov or Susan in a simul though.

Yeah, she takes on all comers. Kasparov will only play patzers. That’s why Fischer laughed at his face for being a coward.
A 2800 playing only class A players and below? And he wants $2,000 for this? What a joke!
Kasparov has played entire national teams. Thats impressive.

I think he only plays 5 board clock simul against national teams. His rule of under 2000 players and 25 board or less is silly at best. No other GM in the world has this silly condition.
