Russia still rules the chess airwaves

As you enter the ballroom, the venue of the match, you can see three robotic cameras inside the sound-proof enclosure, and another in front of the premium ticket seats.

If you think they are Doordarshan’s, you are wrong. They belong to ChessTV, a Russian company.

It was Digicast which launched ChessTV, Russia’s first online chess channel, which telecasts the world’s largest chess tournaments live.

The feed from ChessTV is given to Doordarshan which distributes it.
