well, the most easy movement is Bishop e5, pinned the rook .
another, thinking…
1.Qg5, with more threats.

1.Be5 Rxd1 2.Bxc7 Rxe1+ 3.Kg2 g6 and I think Black can slip out of the tangle and consolidate his material edge. But maybe not.
I confess to having peeked at what Inarkiev actually played. Color me unimpressed. Yes, he won, but so far as I can tell, only because Galkin fumbled later on.
1.Bg7
Then 1… Rd1
2.Rd1 Bg7
3.Rd8 Bf8
4.Qg5# is it?
1… Bg7
2.Re8 Bf8
3.Qg5 Rg6
4.Bg6 fg6
5.Qg6 Qg7
6.Rf8 Kf8
7.Rd8 …
few mates in 1 if other lines are played..
5.Rd8
1.Bg7
Then 1… Rd1
…
1… Bg7
I agree, those moves both lose quickly for Black (not to mention Galkin’s 1…Be7). But how does White win after Black plays the simple man’s move 1…Kxg7?
well.. Kg7
Rd6 Qd6
Qg5 Qg6
Bg6

With 2.Qg5+ Rg6 3.Bxg6 fxg6 4.Re6, and if 4…Qf7 then 5.Rd7
Or if 4…Rh6 then 5.Rxf8
Well, something like that, anyway…
Sorry – if 4…Rh6 then 5.Qf6+ Kg8 6.Re8 Qf7 7.Rxf8+ wins
how about
1. Rxd6 Qxd6 2. Re8 Nd3 3. Bxg7 Ne1 4. Qf6 Nf3 5. Kg2 Qxf6 6. Bxf6 Nd4 7. Bxh8 Kxh8 8. Rxf8 Kg7 9. Ra8 Nxf5 10. Rxa7
and won endgame ?
Nice, one of the few times my rating is actually higher than someone’s. Poor Galkin though, his rating is only 26 ELO. No wonder he loses.
well.. Kg7
Rd6 Qd6
1.Bxg7 Kxg7 2.Rxd6 Bxd6 seems to hold.

4.Re6 is what I didn’t see earlier. Also good for White is 1.Bxg7 Kxg7 2.Qg5+ Rg6 3.Bxg6 fxg6 4.Re6 Rh6 (forced, but what an ugly move!) 5.Rd8!
Nice analysis!

how about
1. Rxd6 Qxd6 2. Re8
That seem to work, too.
I’ve been refuted, but good.
